History

Once upon a time there was a wholesome apple crumble and every year in the fall, she would turn up in kitchens far and wide. Unfortunately, all the recipes contained refined sugar or brown sugar. One day, Madame Labriski decided that things needed to change because there was far too much refined sugar where it simply wasn’t necessary.

While in the middle of working on a different project, she looked across at the bags of apples her children had brought back from a school field trip apple picking and dropped everything she was doing to focus on creating this delicious version that’s both healthy and decadent: the best apple crumble in the world. (for real!)

And you know what? Because Madame doesn’t bother peeling the apples (but you can peel them if you like), this healthy Crumbly Apple Crumble is super-duper easy to make.

When evening fell, the whole family was happy and content.

By the way, this recipe contains no added refined sugar and is also vegan. And because it’s made with certified gluten-free oats, it’s also proudly gluten free.

Three cheers for Madame Labriski’s signature simplicity!

FAQ

How do you make date puree?

Buy date halves that are perfect for cooking and make your own date puree. Get the recipe here.

Madame Labriski, which dates do you use to make your puree?

I’ve been asked that question so many times that I decided to offer the actual dates used to make my date puree sold in grocery stores. How cool is that? Plus, these ones are date halves… to make life easier for you!

Where can I buy Madame Labriski date puree?

At IGA, Rachelle Béry, Marché Tradition and Bonichoix grocery stores across Quebec. My purees contain no preservatives and can be found in the fruit and vegetable section (yes, dates are fruit) near the pre-cut fruit and vegetables. If you can’t find them, simply ask a member of staff!
