History

Guess what I have for you today? A salted caramel sauce with NO ADDED SUGAR. High in fibre, this dipping sauce for apples, bananas or any variety of fruit you like, is also equally delicious on pancakes and even as icing on your favourite cake. In fact, I must admit, it’s finger-licking good.

If you like salted caramel, you’ll be eating it whenever and however you want. Its greatest attribute (apart from the delicious taste, of course) is the fact that it’s made with date puree, which means it’s high in fibre. And that makes all the difference…

Simple to make? I think this has got to be the easiest dipping sauce recipe in the world.

Incidentally, if you use a plant-based cream (or a plant-based beverage), your Skinny Salted Caramel Sauce will obviously be vegan. Having said that, it’s just as good if you make it with a dairy product. And using a “light” type of cream will give it an even creamier texture. Bon appétit!

WHAT TO DO IF YOU’RE USING HOMEMADE DATE PUREE
Simply add 1 to 2 teaspoons of caramel extract, to taste.
But… it’s so easy when you make it with Madame Labriski’s caramel date puree with no added sugar.

Storage

  • One week in the fridge in an airtight container.

FAQ

Where can I buy Madame Labriski date puree?

At IGA, Rachelle Béry, Marché Tradition and Bonichoix grocery stores across Quebec. My purees contain no preservatives and can be found in the fruit and vegetable section (yes, dates are fruit) near the pre-cut fruit and vegetables. If you can’t find them, simply ask a member of staff!
